Rekindled is a wonderful story of loss and recovery. It tells a story of love, deep faith, and mystery.
Larson Jennings and his wife Kathryn live on a small ranch in the Colorado Territory. In need of money to keep his ranch, Larson leaves on a trip to Denver in hopes of a business opportunity. That night he is robbed and shot in the leg. Trying to escape his attacker, he seeks refuge in an abandoned cabin, only to have it set on fire. Badly burned and left for dead, he thinks this is the end.
A kind man named Isaiah finds Larson and takes him to his cabin where he and his wife Abby take care of him. As the months slowly pass he recovers and regains enough strength to return home. As he travels, he prays Kathryn will recognize and still love him.
When he arrives back in Willow Springs, he sees Kat at a grave where a funeral is being held. He sees that she's with child and believes she's moved on with her life. The baby can't be his.
After the funeral, she walks by him without recognizing him. Larson goes to the grave marker and is shocked to read his own name, Larson Robert Jennings.
Will he reveal himself to his beautiful wife? Will she still love him?
This was a wonderful love story, full of inspiration. Kathryn never gave up that her husband was alive, not even after she buried the man she believed was her husband. Her faith sustained her. I highly recommend this book. Rekindled is a great story.
