"...not one of my favorites in the Athena Academy series."

Francesca Thorn (Chesca) is an excellent FBI profiler. She's extremely smart when it comes to chasing down the bad guys, and that's made her very sought after in her line of work. When she's just finished chasing a serial killer in Baton Rouge, she receives an e-mail from the elusive Oracle. She's needed to work on a case—discreetly. They need her to profile a serial blackmailer that's been blackmailing many members of the exclusive Athena Academy, including the former administrator who'd died under mysterious circumstances. Arachne has been around for years, and now they may actually have a real lead on who she is and why she does what she does. Oracle needs Chesca to profile her in order for them to get closer to Arachne.

Chesca works best alone and has never had a real partner. Basically, she's liked it that way and would have still liked it, but some instances happen and Delphi, the connection between her and Oracle, informs her that Arachne's too dangerous and could be getting close to her. She's informed she'll need back-up. The phone call from Athena's Principal, Christine Evans, came as a pleasant surprise until she told Chesca her nephew would be the backup.

Will, the nephew, is gorgeous, a hunk of country cutie, who's on leave from the Army for an injury. Chesca and Will meet up at the Thorn Mansion and get started on the background of what's happened to her that's caused her to need help.

The story is descent to read. The chases Chesca and Will get into are somewhat interesting, and the ties to the Mafia make it seem more real. Although, nothing truly comes from the "Mafia" angle in this book. There are a few scrapes with people following them, but nothing really dangerous happens.

Will gets into the case, but he tries to give Chesca room to work on her own which is good because she then realizes she really likes having him around. But, other than being the 'love' interest, I'm not sure why he's there.

Chesca does do a great profile on Arachne. But other than that, I didn't get much from this installment.

Frankly, this is not one of my favorites in the Athena Academy series. I was disappointed that there was only one sweet kiss at the end, and that we learned very little real information about Will. There was no capture of the "bad guy" and no real romance. All we did find out was that Will, the hero, was attracted to Chesca, and that there could be a possibility of things to come in the future—from his end anyway.

And for Chesca, the heroine, all we found out was she's good at her job, and she's extremely rich (even though she chooses to work on her own merit and not her family name...and she gets by on what she makes from her work as a profiler and not the family money).

Romance lovers will probably be very disappointed. At the end of the book, Chesca kisses Will goodbye as he drove away in the rental car. Personally, I just felt that there was no closure and I was left with lots of questions. I really would not recommend this book to anyone that reads for the love of romance, for adventure or excitement.

Book Description for Moving Target

Francesca Thorn is the FBI's best profiler…and she's needed to target Athena Academy's most dangerous foe. Getting inside the dark mind of a serial blackmailer is easy. The hard part? Working alongside an irritatingly sexy U.S. Army bodyguard who's shadowing her every move. But as she gets dangerously close to revealing the identity of her alma mater's greatest threat, it seems someone will stop at nothing to ensure she remains dead silent. And her only choice is to accept all the help her personal protector can provide.
