"...a good story, but it seemed to drag at times..."

Paris Gibson, a sultry voiced radio diva in Austin Texas, delivers a nightly dose of classic love songs to her listeners while being a shoulder for them to cry on. Hidden behind sunglasses that she wears day and night is a mix of pain and anguish from heartbreak and a secret that she shares with only two men. One of the men died recently, while the other one, Dean Malloy, is now living in Austin unbeknownst to her.

Dean is a psychologist and police officer trying to make life work after moving to Austin with his teenage son Gavin. That is, until a psychopath calls Paris' radio station and tells her what he's setting out to do. Paris has no choice but to go to the police. And there, she runs into Dean. While they have a past together, they put it aside and work together to try and save a young girl's life. They search for clues as to who the psychopath is and why he's after the young girl.

The main characters--Dean and Paris--are thrown together to solve a mystery. When the passion between them is rekindled, you wonder if it can work this time or if the guilt is still too great to work through.

I liked the content of this book. It was a good story, but it seemed to drag at times with the flash backs and sex scenes that weren't as hot as many of the other books of this same type out there. For me, I didn't think the sexual aspect of the romance really played a big part in the story. It was quick when it did happen--all three times--and that was it. However, this is the first Sandra Brown book that I have read and will give another one a try. But honestly, the way the story was building I thought there would be at least one explosive sex scene. All in all though, the book was great.

Book Description for Hello, Darkness

For Paris Gibson, her popular late-night radio show is both an escape and her one real contact with the outside world.

Since moving to Austin to ease the pain of past, tragic mistakes, she has led a life of virtual solitude, coming alive only when she hosts her show. To her loyal listeners, she is a wise and trusted friend who not only takes their music requests but listens to their problems and occasionally dispenses advice.

Paris's world of isolation is brutally threatened, however, when one listener-- man who identifies himself only as "Valentino"--tells her that her on-air advice to the girl he loves has caused her to leave him and that now he intends to exact his revenge. First he plans to kill the girl, whom he has abducted--which he says he will do in 72 hours--then he will come after Paris.

Joined by the Austin police department, Paris plunges into a race against time in an effort to find Valentino before he can carry out his threat to kill--and to kill again. To her dismay, she finds that one of the people she must work with is crime psychologist Dean Malloy, a man with whom she shares a history that had a catastrophic effect on both their lives. His presence arouses old passions, forcing Paris to confront painful memories that she had come to Austin to forget.

As the clock ticks down, and Valentino's threats come closer and closer to becoming a reality, Paris suddenly finds herself forced to deal with a killer who may not be a stranger at all.
