"...the murderer was kept secret until the end...and was a shocker..."
In a small town in South Carolina, women are being mudered with no connection to each other, other than the fact that they're blonde. The sheriff is puzzled, so he calls in the FBI Special Forces Unit headed by Agents Bishop and Miranda. The unit is made up of different types of psychics with abilities from reading minds to seeing the future. Isabel Adams and her partner, Hollis Templeton, are the ones sent to investigate.
Although actually they aren't really being "sent" so much as Isabel has had a vision and was basically being called to Hastings. While Hollis is trained and has been on the job for years, Isabel is a young "green" agent who needs to learn how to control and use her gift.
Sheriff Rafe Sullivan, a rough edged man with demons he's trying to work out, is surprised when they show up in his small town. Rafe has no idea how he is going to able to work with an agent who resembles the victims so much. And, in his heart, he knows she'll end up becoming a target.
As they're drawn into the hunt for the serial muderer--who they find has been eluding police for years--Isabel and Rafe are drawn together physically. You can feel the sparks sizzle between them as they work together while they try to fight their desire for each other. Rafe never expected to feel these things for Isabel, he had no idea she'd have such a hold on him or that she knew what he was hiding. While Isabel and Hollis are having a hard time focusing on the killer, he's focusing on one of them.
This is a must read book for anyone who has a taste for more twists and turns than can ever really be expected. I found myself lost in the book and couldn't put it down. The romance was there, but it was layered underneath the mystery. And, the murderer was kept secret until the end...and was a shocker to me (someone who usually figures out the "who dun it" before the book reveals it)! I have to say I loved this book as I have all of Kay's books that I've read.

Book Description for Sense of Evil
The victims are always the same: beautiful, successful, and blond. Someone was able to coax these intelligent and confident women away from safety. Someone was able to gain their trust long enough to do the unthinkable. Their shocking murders have terrified the inhabitants of a small, peaceful town where such heinous crimes are simply not supposed to happen. Police Chief Rafe Sullivan knows he has to find answers fast before another woman is lured to her death --- but Sullivan literally doesn't have a clue. And when the FBI sends one of their top profilers to help, he's more than a little surprised that his new partner is nothing like the straight-by-the-book "suit" he expects.
Special Agent Isabel Adams is tough, fearless, determined, and every bit Sullivan's equal. She's also psychic.
And blond.
Skeptical of his new partner's ability to get inside the mind of a killer, Sullivan can't deny that Isabel has tuned in to the killer's wavelength, is following the twisted thoughts of a murderer obsessed with stalking, seduction, and death. But in getting so close, Isabel has set herself up as the next victim. Now, with time running out, she and Rafe will find themselves forced to take the greatest risk of all, because this psychopath is playing for keeps and Isabel is the perfect trophy.
Unable to turn back, Isabel may have already gone too far. Smart, savvy, and confident, she may find that the very qualities that have kept her alive could turn out to be her undoing. For Isabel has entered the world of a cold-blooded monster who kills without mercy and eludes every sense but one ... the sense of evil.
